The Integration of Refugees into the Education System of Greece
During the school year 2016-2017, the Institute of Educational Policy conducted an educational program where 117 teachers from the Primary and Secondary Education System in Greece were trained in a series of good practices for engaging with refugees in the education system and offering support. Training sessions were delivered via either distance or on-site learning. The core purposes of the course were to enhance trainees’ knowledge of the socio-political background of the refugees and to adopt good educational practices for the integration of young refugee children. Educators with more an extensive experience in refugee integration presented training material and good practice training to the 117 teachers in the programme.
