EITP Trauma Informed Practice Project
The Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland (SBNI) launched the EITP Trauma Informed Project (2018 – 2020), which included developing ACE animation and training resources. The material was developed in collaboration with 180 representatives from various sectors, including health, social care, justice, government officials, the community and education. The project was underpinned by the view that an overarching framework and collaboration are needed to build a trauma-informed workforce in NI. Providing specific training will help improve outcomes and support prevention measures and the recovery of children and their families. A Trauma Informed Practice – ACEs Level 1 free online training was made available by the Department for Education for the entire education workforce to raise awareness and support children and young people on ACEs. The program recognises that many types of adverse childhood experiences exist and can result in many impacts that prevent a positive engagement with education for certain children resulting in education becoming a significant challenge.
