Resilience workshop for children in residential care
Resilience is the ability of people to cope with and overcome adversity in life.
This competence is particularly relevant for children who have experienced traumatic early childhood experiences, such as those in residential care due to child abuse. This workshop addresses children aged 7 and 8 in residential care due to child abuse.
The general objective of the workshop is to promote resilience in children as a preventive and protective strategy, whereas the specific goals are: to teach the children to value their qualities and abilities to improve their self-esteem positively; to help children to manage and express their feelings and emotions when they need to; and to provide children with strategies to deal effectively with conflicts effectively and positively. The workshop consists of 8 very participative and active sessions. Each session has its evaluation, although a final evaluation is also proposed, carried out by the pedagogue using a participant observation recorded on a rating scale.
