Anka Child Support Program
Anka Child Support Programme is a Psychosocial Support and Intervention Program developed for children staying in Child Support Centres and their families. It aims to develop the skills of children who are victims of crime and face social dangers on the street. The objective is to minimise the effects of the traumas they experience from being dragged into crime. The programme helps them to believe in themselves, enrich their life skills, develop their intellectual capacity, and increase their quality of life.
A professional consultant is appointed for each child by the centre’s director within this project’s framework. The counsellor fills in the individual needs and risk assessment (BİRDEF) form within the first ten days. With this form, the content of the psychosocial support program to be applied to the child is determined. In the form, about the way the child comes to the centre, the reason for his arrival, the child’s educational status, the family’s economic status, place of residence, friendships, physical condition, mental state, substance use status, abuse and delinquency, personal characteristics, behavioural problems and family characteristics. Information is collected.
Each child’s specific needs and risks are assessed. And then, group and individual counselling services are provided. Individual counselling and group studies are carried out. In individual counselling activities, modules on running away from home, self-harm behaviour, suicide, being a victim of abuse, crisis management, crisis intervention and trauma are applied.
