How to Support Traumatised Children
This short brochure has been prepared by the Psychology Department of a private university in Turkey. It includes practical tips for parents, teachers, and other relevant actors in contact with children with a trauma experience.
The brochure includes the following parts:
• How to approach a traumatised child: This part includes suggestions to ease the aftermath of a traumatic event and experience, directly and indirectly, affecting a child.
• Symptoms of a traumatised child: This part mentions and lists physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioural reactions and symptoms that can be seen in a traumatised child.
• Factors affecting the intensity of a traumatic experience: This part lists the factors and the level of influence of the traumatic experience on children.
• Need-to-Know: This part includes some short tips about childhood traumas that need to be known by parents, teachers, and relevant actors.
