“Post-trauma Typical Reactions” Psychoeducation Guidebook
This handbook defines cognitive and behavioural reactions to traumatic incidents and losses in detail. Information and guidance are provided for children, parents and educators to endure and overcome these past traumatic experiences.
All the information in this guidebook constitutes the Psychoeducation Program of Psychosocial School Project that was developed in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and UNICEF and can be used as a guideway to:
• understand what typical psychological reactions against traumatic incidents and what could be done to overcome them
• encourage the sharing of such experiences between the school system and families
• highlight the positive coping techniques and use them if necessary
• facilitate for open-ups to demonstrate that these reactions are natural and normal by informing children, parents and educators
• create/develop an environment for children to normalise and stabilise their reactions and support their learning-development capacities
There are separate sections prepared explicitly for teachers, students and parents. Depending on the participants, relevant sections can be used.
