Policies for Refugee Students in Canada
Scholars of Brock University recommend policies the Canadian educational system can avail of. The authors suggest educators should have sufficient material, training, tools and development opportunities to handle the unique needs and concerns of the young refugee pupils. These policies consider the psychological issues and psychosocial challenges refugees endure in Canada. Creating a secure environment where refugees can freely express themselves, supportive educational programs within and outside schools, and adopting cross-cultural and cross-sector philosophies are the key features for successful refugee integration. Moreover, the authors suggest that enforcing the research of refugee integration with funding can effectuate the strategies above.
