Refugee Children’s Integration in Greece: Training Future Teachers to Face New Educational Challenges
Scholars describe the framework of a project by two groups of graduate and postgraduate students from the University of Athens held in Eleonas. The graduate teachers involved in the project collaborated with other graduates from different academic backgrounds.
The project aimed to improve the integration of refugee children into the Greek Education System. In this paper, the authors present a training framework to coach teachers to become more competent in engaging young refugees with severe psychosocial difficulties.
The pedagogical methodology created used holistic education and non-formal and formal educational practices aimed at improving educators’ interactions with refugee children and their parents.
